Many transitions in life - how to handle one day at a time, Aaron Glover in NZ

Episode Summary

Aaron Glover is a veteran of United States Air Force and has gone through many transitions in his life. Aaron was raised in the Bronx, NY and attended New York University majoring in Finance before entering the United States Air Force in August 1990. He later earned a degree in Organizational Leadership at Fordham University. From 1990 to 1997 he was a Project Manager for Communications and Computer Systems in the United States Air Force. Aaron was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albququerque, New Mexico and was selected 542nd Crew Training Wing Outstanding First Termer of the Year. Aaron was also stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Fairborn, Ohio. During this assignment he was selected to serve on a Source Selection Panel for the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs for procurement of computer systems. After his military service Aaron worked as Adjunct Computer Instructor/Program Operations Specialist at LaGuardia Community College School of Adult and Continuing Education and Accounting Manager at architectural & engineering firm located in New York City. From 2011 to 2015 Aaron was a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist at the VA assisting veterans with career development and helping them find employment and also served as the Transition Advocate at the VA for Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation New Dawn for veterans and their families. His responsibilities included advocating for veterans regarding VA healthcare, education, employment, housing, readjustment services, counseling services. Aaron has done extensive community outreach, presentations, speaking engagements and webinars about strategies of recruiting, hiring and retaining veterans and was awarded the Easter Seals NY 2013 Leadership Service Award for his dedication to veterans. In 2015 Aaron moved from New York City to Taupo, New Zealand to live and marriage the love of his life. In New Zealand, Aaron has worked for the Department of Corrections as a Programme Facilitator to deliver rehabilitation programmes that are designed to help offenders understand the factors that led to their offending and increase their motivation to change. In 2017 Aaron started his own training firm focusing on his passion to empower individuals to develop skills, so they can gain the confidence to stretch beyond their comfort zones and challenge themselves to grow and understand that transitions are a part of learning.
