Take it from the Ironwoman

Ironman Switzerland, Thun - Rob Slater Race Update

Episode Summary

Rob's Triathlon Biography: I started doing Triathlon in 2002 and did my first 70.3 in 2004 when they were called Half Ironman. I was then ill for a long time and decided to try a return in 2013 and set my sights on Ironman Wales (I found out later one of the toughest in the world along with Lanzarote). I have since done 7 IM races (including Lanza and met Kenneth Gasque and Frankfurt where I met Paula Newby-Fraser) and about 10 70.3 races, a few ultras, qualified for Great Britain as an Age Grouper and am now a level 2 triathlon coach. I did the theory part of Ironman University and passed it but when doing the practical element decided that I was not ready for doing one to one and felt it would be better to gain more experience before putting myself on the line. I know I did the right thing there but will go back to it at some stage. My passion is swim coaching and I am the Swim lead for our club BRAT club which got Chrissie Wellington into the sport. She arrived and disappeared while I was ill, so my next door neighbour knows her well but I was out of the system when she was around.
