Episode Summary

Andrew Stack spent many of his formative years living overseas in Russia (where his father served as Attaché to the US Embassy), Germany, Great Britain, and Hong Kong. He attended a two-year Russian Academy while living in the US Embassy, Moscow. A former airborne infantryman, Andrew was assigned to The Old Guard from 1985 to 1987 and was recalled to active duty for the 1991 Gulf War. His broadcast career began in 1994 and he served as a correspondent for Fox News from 2004 to 2006. Andrew was the only embedded television correspondent to enter Iraq without a support crew. During his time in Iraq, Andrew covered the battles of Fallujah, interdiction missions along the Syrian border and assignments into the “triangle of death.” Andrew’s series, “Stack in Iraq” won three regional Emmy Awards for journalistic enterprise and same day feature. His Iraq footage was featured in the acclaimed PBS documentary, “Operation Homecoming” which went on to win two National Emmy Awards and an Oscar Nomination for best documentary. Throughout his career, Andrew has combined his news coverage with his love of outdoor adventure sports and was a certified alpine ski and snowboard instructor for many years.
