I was born and raised in upstate New York including graduation from Union College in Schenectady, NY. I left New York for a Master’s program at Indiana University and did not return to New York until moving to New York City in 1998. I retired in September 2018 after a varied career that included working for the Legislature and two state agencies in Colorado; 25 years as a university administrator leading student housing programs in Texas, Ohio, North Carolina, Boston, and New York City; and 1 years as Director of Planning at a public safety net hospital on Long Island. During that time I also earned two additional masters degrees at the University of Denver and Columbia University and an Ed.D at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. I have completed 12 marathons. My first was the Marine Corps in 1990. I returned to marathoning in 2000 with my first (of 4) New York City marathons. Training for that marathon I met several wonderful people in the NYRR “club” who have become my best friends and training companions for the last 20 years. We had the opportunity to test each other training and to run several marathons together in New York, New England, and internationally in Medoc and Edinburgh. Our most recent marathon was Chicago 2019. I was married 37 years to a wonderful woman who was a geologist and Episcopal priest – chaplain to the NY Pizza Club runners. I relocated from NYC to Colorado in 2020.
